Cochabamba forestry project seeks short-term finance

This is an opportunity to invest in one of only 3 reforestation programmes in the world to have been awarded certified carbon credits under the " Clean Development Mechanism", which demonstrates the quality of the project management and the social benefit of the project. It also enables the project costs to be paid from the proceeds of the sale of certified Carbon Credits to the Belgian government which adds to its attraction as an investment.
There will be an institutional investment offer next year and there is already a good level of interest amongst large pension funds, but some quick funding is needed to ensure that the project can commence with this year's planting season. With this in mind the project managers are doing a deal whereby plots can be purchased at a discounted price of £1,900, to be repurchased at £2,300 in a year's time. The managers are so confident that the necessary institutional investment will be forthcoming that they are prepared to impose a penalty on themselves of 1.2% per month on the buy back price should they not be able to repurchase in 12 months time.
